Geochemical Reference Materials

Geochemical reference materials are geological materials with accurately determined chemical compositions, serving as standards for testing. They are metrological instruments that have undergone thorough technical certification and approval by national regulatory authorities. These materials are primarily used for value transfer, calibration of testing instruments, evaluation of analytical methods, monitoring of analytical quality, and laboratory accreditation.

The Institute of Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration is the leading institution in the world in the development of geochemical reference materials, with the largest number and most diverse range of materials. It has developed 234 types of national-level geochemical reference materials, including materials for rocks, aquatic sediments, soils, soil available components, soil morphological components, total components of agricultural soils, biological components, synthetic spectral analysis standards, trace gold and gold ores, silver ores, platinum group elements, polymetallic ores and concentrates, iron ores and concentrates, chromite ores and concentrates, molybdenum ores and concentrates, nickel ores and concentrates, coal, and synthetic materials. These reference materials are characterized by accurate values, a wide range of certified components, comprehensive variety, good series, strong applicability, and wide usage. They are widely used in industries and fields such as geology, environmental protection, agriculture, forestry, metallurgy, food safety, and quality inspection, as well as in production, scientific research, and education. More than 1,000 research institutes and laboratories in China use these materials, and over 30 countries abroad also use them, making them internationally renowned.

The development of geochemical reference materials has played an important role in the analysis quality control of the national regional geophysical exploration program, the national multi-o bjective geochemical survey, and the national geochemical baseline value research.
