ICGG Secretary Office


On 29 Sept., 2017, the 2017 Workshop on “Silk Road” Geochemical Mapping for “Belt and Road” Countries (24-29 Sept. 2017) held by the UNESCO International Centre on Global-Scale Geochemistry (ICGG) has successfully came to an end. At the closing ceremony of the workshop, Dr. Wang Xueqiu, Executive Director of ICGG presented the participants the certificates of the Workshop.


There were 19 participants from 7 countries, including Morocco, Mongolia, Mexico, Zambia, Russia, Mali, Cameroon, and 14 participants from China participated in the 6-day workshop. Dr.Wang Xueqiu, Executive Director of ICGG, Alecos Demetriades and Gyozo Jordan, members of the European Geochemistry Expert Group gave lectures and made exchanges during the Workshop. Participants also presented the geochemical mapping status and achievements of their respective countries and laid out hope for future cooperation with ICGG.


The training courses covered: Geochemical Mapping Theory and Method, International Big Science Program “Chemical Earth”, European Geochemical Mapping Projects, Geochemical Analysis Techniques, QAQC of Geochemical Data and Map Compilation. A field trip was organized for sampling demonstration of geochemical sampling techniques.  ICGG also arranged one day trip to the 2017 China Mining Conference held in Tianjin by the Ministry of Land and Resources and the Government of Tianjin City.


Participants express their wishes to apply what they had acquired during the Workshop in the geochemical mapping work of their own countries. They also hope they could make contribution to the International Big Science Program “Chemical Earth”.
