International Cooperation | The achievements of the”Chemical Earth” Big Science Program have been selected for the”Global Development Initiative Progress Report 2025”
On September 23, the China International Development Knowledge Center released the "Global Development Initiative Progress Report 2025" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") during the interactive dialogue session of the High-Level Meeting on the Global Development Initiative. The "Chemical Earth" major science program of the Institute of Geophysics and Geochemistry Exploration, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, was included in the "Report.".
The report systematically reviews the main actions and achievements in the eight key areas since the proposal of the Global Development Initiative, and believes that in the four years since the initiative was put forward, the consensus on "development priority" has continued to consolidate, the construction of cooperation mechanisms has been improved, development cooperation resources have been continuously gathered, and practical cooperation has achieved significant results, effectively responding to global challenges and the development needs of developing countries, injecting new momentum into achieving sustainable development goals.
The big scientific plan of "Chemical Earth" is committed to continuously recording the relevant data of all chemical elements in the periodic table of elements. Relying on the big data platform of "Chemical Earth" on the Internet, it provides data support for the protection and utilization of green land, the improvement of crop yield and quality, and serves the global green development. Since the launch of the plan, we have continuously promoted the Global Geochemistry Benchmark Cooperation Project, the International Organization on Earth Observations (GEO) "Global Geochemistry Observation Network and Digital Chemical Earth" work project, jointly released the "Digital" Chemical Earth "Initiative for Global Green Development" with UNESCO, and held an international training course on geochemical mapping to support global land protection and sustainable development of resources and environment through practical actions.
The selection of the "Chemical Earth" major scientific program is a recognition of its technological innovation and international cooperation achievements. In the future, this plan will continue to deepen international scientific research cooperation, provide solid scientific support for ecological and environmental protection cooperation under global development initiatives, and help build a community of shared life between humans and nature.
