The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Global Forum2025 recently took place in Rome, Italy. Representatives from the UNESCO International Centre on Global-Scale Geochemistry (ICGG) attended the event, alongside participants from 13 countries and regions, including China, the United States, the European Commission, South Africa, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Italy, as well as the China GEO Secretariat staff attended the forum.
The forum, themed "The Earth Talks", aims to harness "Earth intelligence" to advance strategies for global food security, ecosystem restoration, disaster prevention, and crisis response, etc., which aligns with the third-decade goal of the GEO—Earth Intelligence for All. The 20th GEO Plenary, the ministerial roundtables, the 66th Executive Committee meeting and community events were also held during the forum.
ICGG joined the GEO in 2021 and successfully applied for the GEO pilot project "Global Geochemical Observation Network and Digital Chemical Earth” in 2022. The forum provides a platform for ICGG to deepen its engagement in GEO activities, strengthen its collaboration with GEO members and extend its cooperation networks.
