First Session of the Second Term of the ICGG Governing Board and Scientific Committee Meeting Successfully Held in Langfang
The UNESCO International Centre on Global-Scale Geochemistry (hereinafter referred to as the “Centre”, ICGG) successfully held the First Session of the Second Term of the ICGG Governing Board and Scientific Committee Meeting in Langfang, Hebei Province. This meeting marked the formal formation of the administrative and academic structure, entering a new phase of development.
The Governing Board reviewed and approved the Progress Report, the Plan for the Second Operational Period, and the Draft Revision of the Statutes of ICGG, which laid the foundation for high-quality development in the upcoming phase. The Governing Board highly commended the significant achievements of ICGG in establishing the global geochemical baselines network, formulating the international standards, and constructing the “Chemical Earth” big data platform, while also offering guidance for its future development. The Scientific Committee carried out in-depth discussions on the application of geochemical theories and technologies in areas such as resource exploration, ecological environment assessment, and global change. The Scientific Committee put forward a series of constructive suggestions on enhancing the capacity for technological innovation and research result transformation.
ICGG will follow the guidance of the new Governing Board and Scientific Committee to continue promoting the “Chemical Earth” International Big Science Program through the platform of UNESCO, to provide scientific and technological support for the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
