ICGG Successfully Held the 2019 International Workshop on Geochemical Mapping

On Oct. 8th to 17th, the 2019 ICGG International Geochemical Mapping Workshop was successfully held by the Institute of Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration (IGGE), CAGS and the UNESCO International Centre on Global-Scale Geochemistry (ICGG). Altogether 17 students from 12 countries including Asia, Africa, and Central and South America joined the workshop.
The workshop covered the following areas: geochemical mapping theory and technology, historical cases of multi-scale geochemical mapping in China, environment and land quality geochemical survey, geochemical data management and interpretation, geochemical map compilation, geochemical sample analysis and quality control, etc.. The detail demonstrations of geochemical software and the analytical procedures which were widely welcomed by the participants, has been proved to be an enhancer of the indoor lectures.
During the workshop, the participants also attended the 2019 China Mining Conference. At the exhibition stand of China Geological Survey, they carefully learnt about the current status and latest development of geological survey in China. They also took an active part in other conference organized activities, such as the International Geological Survey Directors Forum.
The participants highly appraised the workshop. They said that they have benefited so much from the study on multi-scale geochemical mapping concept and methodology, the progress of international geochemical mapping, and recognized the importance of geochemical mapping in resource and environment research. They were willing to play an active part in promoting the cooperation between ICGG and their own institutes, so as to jointly promote the advancement of geochemical mapping technology across the nation and world at large, better serve the sustainable development of global resources and environments
During the workshop, the participants visited the Exhibition Room of ICGG, the Laboratory and CRM Centre of IGGE. They also paid a visit to Henan Geoanalysis Centre learn and practice on the analytical techniques on precious metals and soil organic matters.
