China Geochemical Baselines Proiect
In 2008, the China Geochemical Baselines Project (CGB) was implemented under the support of China's Deep Detection Technology and Experimental Research Special Fund, led by the Institute of Geophysical and Geochemical Exploration. The project, modeled after the global geochemical baseline network, established a geochemical baseline network covering 9.6 million square kilometers across the country. A total of 11,943 rock samples and 3,382 soil sampling points (6,242 samples) were collected, analyzing the full range of elements in the Earth's crust (81 indicators, including 76 elements), and producing a nationwide geochemical baseline map. This project provided a quantitative reference for resource and environmental assessments and became a model and leader in global geochemical baseline initiatives.
