Scientific Committee
The Scientific Committee functions as an advisory body to the Centre. The Committee shall meet biennially, and its members shall be renewed every six years. More than one-third (1/3) of the members of the Scientific Committee shall be replaced during membership transition. Members of the Scientific Committee can be appointed for only two terms. The total number of the Committee members shall be fifteen (15). The Scientific Committee shall consist of domestic and overseas distinguished scientists in relevant fields. The members from China should not exceed two-thirds (2/3) of the total number of members of the Scientific Committee. The Scientific Committee shall include representatives from the IUGS Commission on Global Geochemical Baselines, and the following continents: Africa, Asia, Australasia, Europe, North America and South America.
(1) To assist the Centre to organise workshops, symposia, training courses and any other activities allowed by the Centre's statutes.
(2) To review and comment on the medium- and long-term scientific research projects of the Centre and assist the Director of the Centre in the finalisation of the programme, and the revised version is submitted to the Governing Board for approval. The Scientific Committee submits also its recommendations to the Governing Board for approval, revision or rejection.
(3) To review the report of the biennial scientific and research activities of the Centre, and assist the Director of the Centre in its finalisation, and the revised version is submitted to the Governing Board for approval. The Scientific Committee submits also its recommendations to the Governing Board, and
(4) To provide professional consultation for the scientific research and training of the Centre.
3.1 The First Session of the First ICGG Scientific Committe Meeting, Held on May 13th,2016, appointed the Governing Board Members as follows
3.2 At the Second Session of the first ICGG Scientific Committee, held on October 16th-17th, 2018, Mr. Roland was appointed the new member and also Acting Chairperson of the Scientific Committee with the approval of all Scientific Committee Members.
